Jeffrey Ryan - Experience and Work History

-Training since 1989-
"Experience Speaks for Itself"

Experience is what is takes to master one's craft. I do not believe that getting one, two, or even three certificates is enough reason to stop working on perfecting one's craft. The world of dog training is always evolving, and so should your dog's trainer. I have spent much of my recent time volunteering - training German Shepherd Dogs for the German Shepherd Dog Club of Houston - where I have sat on the board as the Training Coordinator.


Experience & History:

Several years as owner of Canine Connections in Washington, D.C.

Endorsed as a member of the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI)

Certified by the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers

Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT)

Associate of Job Michael Evans (trainer and author of Civilized City Canine, among other books).

Attended Jack and Wendy Volhard's Trainers' Camps in upstate New York for K9 trainers

Trained and own a Delta Society Certified Therapy Dog

AKC accredited Evaluator for the Canine Good Citizenship Certificate

Worked on projects for The Hope House Foundation (Norfolk, VA) - rescuing and training dogs to assist the mentally & physically challenged

There is no need to teach our dogs with the outdated methods of yesterday. We are constantly expanding our understanding of the canine mind, and how to better reach it - leaders in our fields such as Cesar Millan, Karen Pryor, and Dr. Ian Dunbar are constantly showing us this. To that end, I am constantly attempting to expand my knowledge of behavioral conditioning and its uses with companion dogs...

B.A., University of Houston,(Magna cum laude)

30 hours graduate work at U.H.

Owner of Labrador Retrievers, Canine Good Citizen certified

Certified by the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers

AKC accredited Evaluator for the Canine Good Citizenship Certificate

Trained and own a Delta Society Certified Therapy Cockatoo!
